BIRTH
This game was born during Mini jam 2nd edition which theme was "self destruct" and the requeriments were to use NES palette and only 3 colors per sprite (we overlapped sprites if +3 colors were needed).
After the game jam we decided to take the concept further and add more features to reach our main goal in the design.
DESING
The main objective of the video game is to make the player feel what a drug addict feels and emphasice with him. We wanted to transmit the sense of isolation that drug addiction produces, generating a more comfortable state while on drugs and be more susceptible to move away from people.
To reach this, we produced a gradual change of being comfortable at the begining of the game to ending uncomfortable through dialogues and increasing the gratifying of consume drugs on each trip (with the power of gameplay, visuals and music).
In addition, the design of each character and the evolution of their attitude is linked to the consumption and addiction of five different types of drugs.
We wanted to avoid any kind of score, achievements or death condition that could blur the main goal of our game.
This was also a personal experiment to use narrative through game feel so,
